about

As an experienced connaisseur of the marine world, Roger Lindahl has written his pieces as memoirs of endless gliding through the shallows and cruising along vast coastlines.
Living in California in the early fifties, he created the sound he had in mind of an island where it’s always summer, to sweeten his short but necessary stays on land.
“When you’re floating in the mesopelagic, which I try to do as often as I can, and the blue light of the ocean comforts you gently, one starts to really doubt our ancestor’s decision to crawl ashore. I personally just can’t wrap my head around it.”
To have at least a small consolation, Lindahl provides us with a compensating soundtrack for being on land or in an isolation tank.
“I first started thinking about the Pacific Dream Machine around 1954 as a device to induce a hypnagogic state when listening with your eyes closed by stimulating the alpha waves in the brain. The first tests on tape were promising, so I hope it helps you too.”
